Cookie Policy

ChalkSpin uses a few cookies and some browser storage: to remember your theme and sign-in, to keep your wheels in your browser, and, with your choices respected, for analytics and Google ads.

The short version

  • Your wheel entries and settings live in your browser's local storage, not on our servers.
  • A handful of essential cookies remember your theme, your sign-in and your privacy choices.
  • Google Analytics and Google AdSense cookies follow your consent choices (Google Consent Mode).
  • In the EEA, UK and Switzerland they're off until you agree; elsewhere you can switch them off any time.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to keep. Local storage is similar, but stays in your browser and isn't sent to any server. ChalkSpin uses both, as few as we can, and this page lists every kind.

Needed for the site to work (always on)

These make ChalkSpin work the way you set it up. They're never used for ads.

When analytics and ad cookies are used

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland (and whenever we can't tell where you are), analytics and advertising cookies are off until you agree. Elsewhere, including the U.S., they're on by default and you can turn them off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we switch off personalized ads for you. We use Google Consent Mode, so Google's tags follow these choices.

Presentation mode, wheels embedded on other sites and a Pro member's shared wheels show no ads, and Pro members see no ads anywhere.

How to change your choices

  • Use Your Privacy Choices (also linked as "Privacy choices" at the bottom of every page) to turn analytics, ad storage and personalized ads on or off.
  • Manage personalized ads from Google in Google's Ads Settings, and read how Google uses cookies in advertising.
  • Block or delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings. If you block the essential ones, ChalkSpin still works, but it won't remember your theme or keep you signed in.

Payments and fonts

Checkout happens on Stripe's own site (checkout.stripe.com), where Stripe uses its own cookies for security and fraud prevention under Stripe's cookie policy. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, which doesn't set cookies.

Updates

When we add or remove a cookie we update this page and the date at the top. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
